Didn’t want to miss a thing – Coquitlam Newborn Photography

My friend had her baby back in August, but they were down in the States and not coming back for a while.  Once she was back and settled, her little man was past the “prime” newborn stage for photos.  Knowing that sometimes older newborns take a long time to settle she came over and we settled in for the day of capturing his awake cuteness and waiting for him to fall asleep.  And waiting. And waiting.  Eventually he fell asleep for about 20 minutes, just enough to get some cute sleeping photos before he decided that we were doing fun things without him and he wanted to be awake again.

Enjoy your gallery of your adorable little man…

Summer light equals Golden Family Portraits – Pitt Meadows photography

I had the pleasure of photographing K & R’s two kids from birth, and now their youngest has just turned one.  We met on a sunny evening at Osprey Village in Pitt Meadows to capture some moments of their family in the now.  They are such lovely people, inside and out.

Here is a little peek into their session:

An Oyama Sneak Peek – C&D tie the knot

I had the pleasure of doing David and Christina’s engagement photos in the Okanagan last summer.  I learned that they love a good laugh, and they love deeply.  So it was no surprise that their love for each other transferred from real life to photographs so beautifully.

They got married on June 30th, in unseasonably cool Okanagan weather, but the clouds created such gorgeous light for their images.  And the rain that was threatening never showed up.  Lucky in love, and lucky in life!

I have just returned from the Okanagan, and have started looking through all the wedding photos, and couldn’t wait to share a few from the day.

Enjoy the sneak peek!

Couldn’t wait to join the world – Coquitlam Newborn Photographer

Little Miss S was supposed to be a May baby.  Mom and I had discussed our sessions times, and I had ordered some cute rompers from Italy for the session.  But baby S had other ideas.  And April is such a nice month, with all the spring flowers, and cherry blossoms.

Although she took a while to settle down, once she drifted off to sleep she was a sweetheart to pose.  Here is just a sneak peek of her session.

7 weeks old, and such a sweetie – kim culbert photography

Although I love to shoot newborn babies in the first two weeks after being born, sometimes that just doesn’t happen. With older newborns I’m always confident that we will get some great shots, but can’t guarantee the cute snuggly poses of the brand new babes.
Well, this 7 week old was a superstar. She slept like a dream, and smiled when she was awake.
I’ve just started editing the gallery, but here is a sneak peek…

Also, the older newborns get, the more skin issues they can have.  In my editing, I can fix almost all acne, rashes, and dry flakes.

The Magical world of Twins – kim culbert photography

When I was younger I always wanted twins… there is just something magical about their connection. Now that I’m older and I have my two boys, who were 2 years apart, I love capturing the special bond between these little ones. They spent 9 months together, growing, being, and it’s so amazing to see how they react to each other outside the womb.

A whole new *furry* world – kim culbert photography

In this past month I have rekindled a love for capturing the craziness of puppyhood.  I’ve always loved dogs, begged my parents for one when I was little, and got my own as soon as I got my own place.
A friend recently got a new member  to the family… little Charlie, a sweet, tiny Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.  I offered to take some pictures, and styled the shoot like a newborn session, since she was just 11 weeks old.

I had so much fun with this session.  Can you tell?

A Holiday Miracle — all kids looking and smiling! Christmas Countdown

It was a Christmas miracle for sure… three very active boys and one sweet girl are in this family and we wanted to try to get a picture of them all looking at the camera, and hopefully smiling.  It actually didn’t take that long to get the giggles going, so it was just a matter of timing.

And it just goes to show you that all you need is a second… because here was one second later:

I love their smiles and the fun they’re having… I hope the joys of Christmas fill their house this holiday season.

Christmas Countdown Continues – kim culbert photography

Christmas Countdown – so many wonderful families!

I have fallen a bit behind in my countdown… life happened!  I managed a weekend with the kids, exploring Whistler, cutting down our Christmas tree, and enjoying the season.

Here are the latest…
