Lovely light, amazing family – Surrey Family Photography

My shoot last week came together a little bit uncertainly… an email to see if I was available on a certain date, certain time, certain location… the family was gathering for a birthday party and wanted a family session while everyone was in the same place.  It worked that I was available for it all, although the weather was looking unpredictable… all week it keep saying rain.  The night before, though, it changed to sunshine… and it was lovely!

I had shot a session with Shawna 7 years ago when her oldest son was just a baby… he’s now the oldest of the cousins.  We had a blast, and got some great shots… enjoy your teasers! BFamily1 BFamily2 BFamily3 BFamily4 BFamily5 BFamily6 BFamily7

Sisters – friends for life – Burnaby Family Photographer

Each fall I have the pleasure of photographing a daycare in North Vancouver for a Friends and Family night. Last fall the A family was there with daughter little Miss S, and the mom expecting another bundle in the summer. It was so great to get to catch up with them again at the photogenic Deer Lake Park in Burnaby and meet the newest little sister, Miss E.  Alexander2 Alexander3 Alexander4 Alexander5

Sweet Six months – Burnaby Baby Photographer

I love it when families opt for the Baby’s First Year package… it gives them a newborn session, six month session and a one year session, along with prints and digital files of each session, a gallery wrapped canvas and an album detailing the first year with their little one.   (and selfishly, it lets me experience the wonder of how many changes happens in that first year).

Little Miss A was just over six months at her shoot, and I think she must have just discovered her tongue.  It was so cute how she stuck it out for so many of the photos.   I enjoyed our shoot, and I can’t wait to see them again in the new year to wrap up her year.

Little Miss Character – Port Moody Family Photographer

In June, Colleen and Dean contacted me to do a family session for them, incorporating the wonderful outdoor areas in which we live and their 18 month old daughter.  For weeks we would book a session and then it would rain, so we would postpone. Finally we decided to try an indoor session on a rainy Saturday, but Little Miss S was not having any of my tricks in order to get her in the studio in front of the light.  After 45 minutes and minimal success we decided to try again outdoors.  This time the weather was AMAZING.  The early morning light was perfect to capture all of Miss S’s character. She kept us all moving, and laughing.  Colleen and Dean, enjoy your sneak peek!

Baby Love ~ Little Miss A makes the world a cuter place!

When mom K contacted me about a newborn session, she was already overdue by one week and waiting for the arrival of her little bundle.  So when baby A finally decided to join our world I was looking forward to meeting this 8lb 14 oz little girl.

She was a superstar sleeper for the first part of the session, and then we managed to get some cute awake shots.  Love the eye contact too!  Mom and Dad look so content with their new little girl, and I hope they enjoy these teasers.

Throwback Thursday – Brotherly Love – Burnaby Family Photography

I have two sons.  They are blonde, blue-eyed, and have the most amazing smiles.  Most of the time, they love playing with each other, entertaining each other with games, lego, songs…  and their love for each other started way before Logan (the youngest) could even talk.

I love this picture of the two of them.  Ian is 3, and Logan is about 6 months old.  They are sharing a moment, and looking back, I can see how strong their bond connects them.

Throwback Thursday – GLEE – Burnaby Family Photography

In 2010 I did some family photos for a good friend.  The light was amazing, her kids were well behaved, and it was such fun capturing their family.

From that shoot, I had one image that I loved above all the others.  When the Metro News announced they were holding a Worldwide Photo Contest and one of the categories was Emotion, I knew which image I wanted to submit.

I’m proud to say that this photo placed 1st place in Canada, and went on to finish 9th out of the Worldwide competition.

Mommy and Me Mini Sessions – Coquitlam Studio Photography

As a mom, I know that I don’t always feel like having my photo taken.  I’m tired, I’ve probably got some food substance stuck to my clothes, and my mind is running through various endings to how the latest “adventure” my sons are trying to achieve via superhero capes and couch jumping is actually going to end.
But, as I look back in our photo albums from the past few years, I realize that I have been missing.  I am the photo-taker, the organizer, the one that gets everyone else ready and is overlooked in our family photos.  I want to have photos of me, enjoying my kids, enjoying the moments when they are little, for us to look back on in the years to come.  I want my kids to have photos to remember me, at this age, at this stage.

I am offering Mommy and Me mini sessions on May 24th to capture this time, these moments in your life with your little ones.  The sessions will be 15 minutes (just long enough to capture some great emotions, expressions, moments and then send you on your way with some home baked goods.) and you will receive 2 digital images with a print release, and a password protected online viewing gallery with your session images.  All a la carte prints and digital files will be discounted for this promotion – 50% off the regular prices which can be found by visiting my website, www.kimculbert.com – Pricing.

Please contact me if you have any more questions, or if you would like to book your session.  Let your man know if this is something that you would like as a Mother’s Day gift and get him to contact me at kim@kimculbert.com.  Bookings are limited, and it’s first come, first served.  There are approx. 10 sessions in this time frame.

Take the leap and capture yourself with your children… they’ll thank you for it later.

Throwback Thursday – Coquitlam – Port Moody Newborn Photographer

While in the middle of editing the latest addition to the J family, I thought back to 2011 when I took big sister C’s newborn photos.  Here’s this week’s Throwback Thursday, to when C was just brand new!
