Before the Baby – Coquitlam Maternity Photographer

I love it when previous clients refer new clients to me, and especially when they are expecting their first new bundle.  I must say, this ridiculously gorgeous mama-to-be looked great in everything she brought and it was easy to capture her wonderful smiles.  I can’t wait to meet the baby and capture some more great moments for this family. Enjoy your teasers…

Sisters – friends for life – Burnaby Family Photographer

Each fall I have the pleasure of photographing a daycare in North Vancouver for a Friends and Family night. Last fall the A family was there with daughter little Miss S, and the mom expecting another bundle in the summer. It was so great to get to catch up with them again at the photogenic Deer Lake Park in Burnaby and meet the newest little sister, Miss E.  Alexander2 Alexander3 Alexander4 Alexander5

Sweet Six months – Burnaby Baby Photographer

I love it when families opt for the Baby’s First Year package… it gives them a newborn session, six month session and a one year session, along with prints and digital files of each session, a gallery wrapped canvas and an album detailing the first year with their little one.   (and selfishly, it lets me experience the wonder of how many changes happens in that first year).

Little Miss A was just over six months at her shoot, and I think she must have just discovered her tongue.  It was so cute how she stuck it out for so many of the photos.   I enjoyed our shoot, and I can’t wait to see them again in the new year to wrap up her year.

And baby makes 4! Coquitlam Maternity Photography

I was excited to get an email from a previous client checking on my availability for a maternity shoot… she was 38 weeks pregnant and wanted to capture the special moments with this baby before it was born.  I shot her maternity and newborn session with her first daughter and let me tell you, these people make cute babies!

The weather has been so hot, but Allice and her family were up for a stroll through the forests along the river to capture the serenity of the area.

Isn’t she positively gorgeous?

I can’t wait to meet her next little one… will it be another daughter, or a son?  Only a week or two left before we find out!

Squishy Baby Happiness – Coquitlam Newborn Photographer

I was so excited to hear from past clients letting me know of the birth of their baby boy.  I was looking forward to seeing their older son, Mr.R, that I had the pleasure of photographing 2 years prior.  I would get to see how much he had grown, from a wee baby to a little boy, and get to meet the next family member.

Baby S was 3 weeks old when I photographed him, and he made me work for his shots…. I still think he’s pretty cute, though!

Gorgeous Family with a gorgeous backyard in gorgeous light – North Vancouver Family Photography

Do you think I enjoyed this shoot?  Do you think I think it was gorgeous?!?  Well, it was.  When Melody contacted me to shoot her extended family in her North Vancouver backyard I was a little nervous about shooting such a large group in a location I’d never seen.  One look at her backyard and my nerves were calmed.  A huge sectional couch was an amazing backdrop, plus cedar hedges along the edge, and the coolest rustic fence ever. (I’ve been told that I can have the fence when they renovate, and I just might take them up on the offer! It had so much great texture!)

Here are some of my favourites from the session:

Little Miss Character – Port Moody Family Photographer

In June, Colleen and Dean contacted me to do a family session for them, incorporating the wonderful outdoor areas in which we live and their 18 month old daughter.  For weeks we would book a session and then it would rain, so we would postpone. Finally we decided to try an indoor session on a rainy Saturday, but Little Miss S was not having any of my tricks in order to get her in the studio in front of the light.  After 45 minutes and minimal success we decided to try again outdoors.  This time the weather was AMAZING.  The early morning light was perfect to capture all of Miss S’s character. She kept us all moving, and laughing.  Colleen and Dean, enjoy your sneak peek!

Wedded Bliss- My brother’s Kelowna Wedding

This is going to be a long post! When my brother and his fiance Michelle announced that they were getting married outside in July, in Kelowna, I was stoked — I love shooting outdoor ceremonies.  I won’t lie, though… when I saw the forecast for 40 degree temperatures I was not quite as excited.  A big thank you to Lisa from Redfern Photography for helping me out during the ceremony and start of reception… you were a champ in the heat!

The day started at Michelle’s sister’s house in Carrs Landing… a gorgeous log home with AC. Make up was applied and hair was swept up, getting ready for the day.

Aren’t her dress, shoes and accessories just gorgeous?  I love these detail shots!

They got married at the Ellison Wedding Garden, which was a fabulous venue. The owner even invited us in to her home to get Michelle into her dress, as the day was so hot.   (So hot, check out how these amazing bridesmaids helped keep the bride cool while getting her dress on!)

There was ample bench seating for the guests, and a lovely walkway for the wedding party to walk down and into the ceremony.  Here are the ladies, making their way down to the walkway.

The guys were melting in their suits, but they look good doing it!

The wedding garden overlooks the Kelowna airport but we were lucky that no large airplanes took off or landed while the ceremony was happening.  Short, sweet, with amazing hand-written vows the ceremony was perfect.  You could just see the love between them.

ceremony6 ceremony5 ceremony4 ceremony3ceremony7Once it was all done, we got out of the hot sun and into the forest for a few formal shots of the wedding party.  It was still crazy hot, so we didn’t spend too much time there… everyone wanted back to the air conditioned reception hall to dance the night away!

I’ll show off a few of my favourite formal pictures to end this post…. and to say that I am so glad that Michelle has joined our family, and I wish you both many many years of happiness.

Nicholas, a Tiny Light

I met Nicholas, a cute, content 22 month old, last week for our session at his house with his parents and his sister.  The backyard was gorgeous with large trees and lush grass and a perfect setting for our shoot.  I love volunteering with the Tiny Light Foundation because I get to meet such special, amazing families, and Nicholas didn’t disappoint.

Nicholas has Spinal Muscular Atrophy, which you can read more about on his page… https://www.facebook.com/pages/A-Boy-Named-Nicolas/606296976126778  (and if you happen to be in Maple Ridge buying liquor, please go to the Maple Ridge Liquor Store on 207th and Lougheed and just mention Nicholas’ name at the cashier and the store will donate 5% of your sale to Nicholas’ cause.)

He is a fighter, a trooper, and shows us that although the forecast might look dark, you can always shine on.

Nicholas

Baby Love ~ Little Miss A makes the world a cuter place!

When mom K contacted me about a newborn session, she was already overdue by one week and waiting for the arrival of her little bundle.  So when baby A finally decided to join our world I was looking forward to meeting this 8lb 14 oz little girl.

She was a superstar sleeper for the first part of the session, and then we managed to get some cute awake shots.  Love the eye contact too!  Mom and Dad look so content with their new little girl, and I hope they enjoy these teasers.
